The focal point of the Leading by Design project is on measuring the increased performance effectiveness of each of the individual case study participants.  Leading by Design provides an opportunity to progress one’s career, work, business, and life into advanced levels of success. The material improvements, that are the consequence of each participants’ increased performance effectiveness, cascade across each one of the participants’ personal lives and organizational contexts to also benefit their families, colleagues, customers / clients / patients, the overall industry, and their local communities.

Leading by Design begins with leadership and ends with cultivating ‘generative space’.  It is the result of developing mastery in the practice of cultivating ‘generative space’ consistently, predictably, and reliably in one’s personal life, organizational and professional work, and community engagements that opens up the possibility of making life-enhancing improvements that are both systemic and sustainable.

Leading by Design is a new approach to the practice of leadership, developed by Dr. Wayne Ruga, that is the culmination of his 35 years of continued applied research into discovering effective strategies for improving health, healthcare, and quality of life with design of the environment.
