2019 Award Recipient The CARITAS Project, its Advisory Board, and its Award Judges and Partners are delighted to announce the Award Recipient for the Tenth Annual Generative Space Award.
Project Title:
Designed for kids, families and staff to flourish, the Kennedy Center opened to rave reviews! The minute you approach this building and are greeted by a real 1891 steam engine, you know it is not your typical Pediatric Center. After traveling around the country to seek out the best innovations, the project team designed a building that has radically changed the patient/family experience. With its’ “onstage / off stage” clinic modules, kiosk registration, no private offices and incredible discovery / waiting rooms, the visits have increased 10% with no shows and waiting time reduced by half. It is also a celebration of the community with the fire truck and tow truck greeting kids and families on each floor. Even more unusual was the fact that over $30 million of the $40 million cost of the building was contributed by over 6,000 donors to a county hospital that had no history of philanthropy. Provider Organization Primary Contact Consultant Primary Contact Individual Responsible for This Entry Judges' Comments: ‘This facility is an example of “A Place to Flourish” as it respects the human dignity of the patients, staff, families, and visitors in this community.’ ‘I consider the “wow” factor to be that 75% of the contributions were donated towards the total cost of the project. This is typically unheard of, but simply demonstrates that the community in Chattanooga is committed to cultivating a generative space.’ ‘The idea of extending the experience outward and inward to embrace the surrounding community both externally and internally is admirable. For this public embrace of community to become the gateway to the campus is inspired.’ 2019 Generative Space Award Judges Sally Augustin, PhD Dr. Mark Rowe, GP Thank you for your interest and support of this program. Together, let us work to create a world made up of 'A Place to Flourish', everywhere and for everyone. Copyright © 2019 The CARITAS Project |
