CARITAS is an ancient word – it reminds us that ‘loving kindness’ and ‘caring’ are primary human values. The ‘Star of CARITAS’ is a beacon of these values, today. The ‘Star of CARITAS’ is a bold reminder that our world is a very big place, and that – no matter where we find ourselves in it – our remembering to bring more CARITAS into that space is the opportunity each one of us always has. The heart, in the center of the ‘Star’, reminds us that CARITAS begins in our own heart and works its way out into the world from there. The first circle around the heart is to remind us that we all live together on this Earth and share it. The second circle reminds us that our ability to bring more CARITAS into our world is unlimited – extending out to the Moon and beyond. The third circle reminds us of the Sun, encouraging us to be our brightest ‘light’ always. Finally, all of these elements are within a fast-moving star – bringing its brilliance to the entire Universe, as we each do, and – also as we do – spreading ‘Stardust’ as we go.

Did you notice the ‘flourish’ inside the heart? It is there to remind us that being more open-hearted, and sharing CARITAS, is a source of great joy – both to give and receive.
